Established in 2003 as a small kiln coating company that provided coating services to mills all around the northwest, Oregon and Montana, Sb kiln was started by two brothers with over 47 years of experience and knowledge at the time in the industry.
Marty Stutheit started working in the lumber industry at the age of 16 in 1978. He continued working in the timber industry for 24 years in Coeur d Alene, Idaho until the mill closed. In the years he performed a variety of duties throughout the mill and gained knowledge and experience of how a mill is ran and maintained.
Lonnie Stutheit started working in the lumber industry at the age of 16 in 1980. He continued working in the timber industry for 23 years performing a variety of duties in the planer and eventually becoming the kiln supervisor and overseeing the dry kilns.
As the years progressed the company’s spectrum of work began to grow larger. SB Kiln now provides coating, maintenance, rebuilds, and consulting to other mills in order to help their kiln process in regards to faster drying times, and overall cost effectiveness. By 2017, Marty and Lonnie had created a patented baffling system that continues to help kilns in mills across North America provide a better board recovery and dry time.
